Maybe I'm biased, but I reckon a traditional barn dance, folk dance, country dance, ceilidh - call it what you will- is a
great way to bring people together, whatever generation they happen to be in. Other sorts of music kind of 'belong' to a
generation so you tend have favourite songs if you are of the particular generation, or a complete detachment from that age
group. Folk music however belongs to all people and even if you don't belong to the culture, it's always interesting to join
in and become part of it for a while.
People often ask if partners are needed, but this is usually taken care of as it's more of a community dance so, with
the help of our callers, people are organised into dancing sets without neccessarily knowing (or even caring!) who they're
dancing partner is.
